Below are our 2 programs from which our applicants can benefit from.
Live or Virtual Individualized 1:1 Adaptive Fitness training
Description: Through this grant the AFL will award the recipient with 1 comprehensive Adaptive Fitness Assessment, and 11 Adaptive Fitness Sessions focused on improving neural plasticity and/or maintaining health and wellness to prevent secondary complications through adaptive fitness education and training provided by a qualified adaptive fitness organization.
The AFL will contract the services of DPI Adaptive Fitness in Fairfax, VA to provide the services for this 1:1 Adaptive Fitness Training grant.
Following the Adaptive Fitness Assessment and discussion with any current medical providers (Doctors or Therapists) a program design will be implemented based on goals set forth by the adaptive fitness trainer and the participant with the expectation for the participant to attend 2 weekly visits until completion.
Requirements: Application submission and approval by the AFL, consistent attendance, as well as a Medical Release from the participant's medical doctor. All are mandatory.
Who should apply: Individuals living with disabilities or recovering from injury or disease who reside in or around the DC, MD, VA area and are able to travel to Fairfax, VA (DPI Adaptive Fitness gym).

Use of adaptive fitness equipment accessories at home
Description: Through this grant the AFL will award the recipient with approved adaptive fitness equipment or accessories to use at home. Equipment cost will not exceed $500 per applicant.
Examples include Therabands, Active Hands grip gloves, medicine balls, cuff weights
Requirements: Application submission and approval by the AFL.
